Royal Grand Palace & Emeral Buddha
The Royal Grand Palace and the Emerald Buddha Temple are one of the most important landmarks in Bangkok. The Royal Grand Palace was built by the first Rama 1 King when he established the Krung Rattanakosin. It was originally built in 3 separate parts, Phra Maha Prasat, Phra Maha Monthian and the Emerald Buddha Temple.
In the past, the Royal Grand Palace was the residential for the Royal families and the king but nowadays, the Royal Grand Palace has been held many important ceremonial occasions and coronations. Because of its beautiful architecture and the noble art materials make the palace become one of the attractive landmarks for Thailand.
The Emerald Buddha Temple is located in the ground of Grand Palace and it is regarded as the most sacred temple for Buddhists in Thailand. The Emerald Buddha is carved from a huge piece of green jade and covered by seasonal costume and 3 times a year: summer, rainy and winter. The costume changed is very important ritual and performed by the king.
