Adjacent to the Tropicale (and on lower grounds) is The Lagoon, formerly known as the Islandia Paradise Resort. Its 81 Deluxe Rooms (picture right, 36.48 sq.m., 32 king/49 twin) and 9 Deluxe Family Rooms (48.48 sq.m., 6 king/3 twin) have seen some changes and shall be the centre for the resort’s family guests. These rooms, too, have separate shower and bathtub. The Lagoon has its own swimming pool and a snack bar/restaurant.
The resort has 3 swimming pools, a kids club, fitness centre with aerobic room, 2 floodlit tennis courts and WiFi is offered throughout the resort – packages are sold. Read more on this property in upcoming reports.

A fantastic excuse for a trip to a hotel in Karon with exactly that name: the Woraburi Phuket. See fairies, elfs, gnomes and dwarfs – maybe even wizards – in action: who could resist?
The Wora-brothers have 3 hotels (Bangkok, Ayutthaya and Phuket) – their Phuket property has 207 rooms. Located just south of the Moevenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach, and beautiful Karon Beach is just across the street. All rooms are air-conditioned, have tiled floor, private bathroom with bathtub/ shower, in-room safe, mini-bar, tea and coffee maker, hair dryer, balcony/ terrace, IDD phone, bathrobes. There are elevators in each building – some Cabana Pool Access Rooms and some Superior Pool View Rooms are equipped for handicapped guests. Connecting rooms available in rooms of the same two categories with the addition of some Deluxe Rooms.
The 22 Cabana Rooms (32 sq.m.) are almost identical with the 151 units of Superior Pool View standard; the only difference is that Cabana rooms are located on the ground floor and have pool access.
The 25 Deluxe Rooms (39 sq.m.) are not only bigger, they also have a larger bathroom with separate shower and bathtub.
There are also 5 Junior Suites (60 sq.m.), 3 Executive Suites (76 sq.m.) and the Srivichai Suite (108 sq.m.).
Woraburi Phuket has a large swimming pool with separate children pool, there’s small fitness room, a nice spa, 2 function rooms with capacity of up to 150 rooms. Wireless Internet is available too.

Central kata resort Central Hotel & Resorts also bought the Jiva Kata Resort, making it their third property on the island and the Central Kata Resort. Situated behind Club Med and a few hundred meter from both Kata Center and the Kata/Karon Center, it takes a few minutes’ walk to reach Kata Beach. The original resort opened with 98 rooms – but the property has received a new wing with its own swimming pool and Jacuzzi

and now has 128 rooms. Emphasis was made on families during the planning and development of the property. This shows in both facilities and accommodation.
With the exception of the new building, all rooms are in two rows of two-storey buildings facing each other with a poolscape in between.
The 40 Family One Bedroom Rooms (60 sq.m., max. 4 persons) have a bedroom and a separate same-sized living room featuring a day bed that can be converted into a bed for two and a kitchenette (with stove, microwave and toaster).
The 04 Family Two Bedroom Rooms (90 sq.m., max 6 persons) have same looks, decoration and amenities – but a second bedroom (the living room is located in the middle).
The 84 Deluxe Rooms (30 sq.m., max. 3 persons) have the same layout and looks as the Family Rooms without the additional living room and kitchenette. Clothes storage is handled quite neatly with space that should be sufficient. Rooms have rather large balconies.
Some of the Deluxe Rooms are located a bit off the pool area, towards the Spa.
These are more used to accommodate people who are a bit older and/or looking for quiet. The newly added wing is facing the entrance and aimed at couples.
