Room all these rooms will interconnect to a kingsize bed adult room. There
are also 21 Standard Rooms, 4 Duplex Adventure Suites, 3 Junior Suties and 1
Two Bedroom Family Suites. |
The rooms have in-room safety box, hair dryer, tea and coffee maker, shower/
bathtub. Standard rooms can only accommodate 2 persons and Deluxe Rooms 3
- it is good to know that most of the hotels rooms are connected.
The resort has 2 swimming pools (one with an adventure water-slide), a lovely
large Kids Club with loads of activities; theres also a bottom-less ice cream machine
providing fee ice cream cones to kids all day long. The Siam Adventure
Club will provide an innovative and interactive program for kids. There was still
a lot of work being carried out when I visited. Nevertheless, if you knew the
Felix Karon you will be very happy to see what has been done here. The artists
impressions of the outlets look every bit as interesting as do the |

Central karon resort The Islandia Resort was sold earlier this year to the Central Group which has invested
a considerable amount of money in the upgrade of the property. The Central Karon Resort will not only comprise of the
Islandia tower or otherwise known Park Wing (128 rooms) - but also of the former Deluxe Room Cottages (20 units) as well
as the Islandia Tropical Resort (120 rooms) and the Islandia Paradise Resort (98 rooms). With the works finished soon, the
property will be one complete facility but still separate the various buildings into differing products catering for specific markets.
All rooms are air-conditioned, feature refrigerator/mini-bar, satellite TV and in-house movie channel, in-house music, IDD
phone, in-room safe, hair dryer, tea & coffee making facilities and private balcony. Superior Rooms have shower only other
room types have bathroom with bath and shower. |
The Park Wing is now called The
Terraces where rooms above
the 5th floor enjoy sea view.
Here I would expect that most
effort and money has gone into
upgrades and renovation. The
40 Superior Rooms (pictures
right, 26.6 sq.m., 8 king/32
twin) occupy the non-sea viewoffering
levels (floor 1-4); above
you find the 84 Superior

Rooms (26.6 sq.m., 28king/56 twin) along with 04 Deluxe Honeymoon Suites (35.6 sq.m. with private Jacuzzi spa on terrace). The Superior rooms (of
both types) look quite attractive, albeit perhaps a wee bit small. You dont have to be a contortionist to feel comfortable, but it
helps if you dont have too much luggage to store. Gone are the pale colors and old fashioned furnishings the rooms now
sport a trendy design with a color scheme that goes from white wall on one side to mouthwash blue on the opposite. It looks
attractive and fresh. Even more so, when you see the bathrooms these have been almost totally redesigned and are now a bit
more open to the bed room. You have only shower if you stay in a room of this type. The rooms are air-conditioned, have
safety box, mini-bar, tea and coffee maker, cable tv, and a balcony.
The Terraces should be ready by 15th November. The building will by then be painted in a more cream color.
The 18 Pool Cabanas (39.44 sq.m., 6 king/12 twin) and 01 2-Bedroom Cabana (113.60 sq.m., 1 king/1 twin) will be ready in
December 2006. No room was available for viewing at the end of October but I was advised that they have been subjected to
an almost total make-over.
On the way to the former Tropical Resort I saw the spa the facilitys nine treatment rooms are ready for business. |
The aforementioned Tropical
Resort stands a bit on elevated
ground overlooking most parts
of the property. The resort was
opened in September 2004
and its no surprise that a name
change to Tropicale was just
about the only change introduced
by the new owners Well,
that was not just right, was it?
Central is not only seeing this as
the top part of the property |

(and that refers to the standard/quality of the rooms rather than its location) it will also introduce an upgrade hospitality available
exclusively to guests staying in this wing. An earlier announcement said that Central Plus could be enjoyed here: this is
for guests looking for a more upscale holiday experience providing luxurious accommodations, concierge service, twice daily
maid service including nightly turndown, upgraded amenities and an exclusive lounge serving daytime snacks, all day tea and
coffee and nightly complimentary cocktail hour. The club lounge is an open air outlet located on the ground floor.
The Tropicale consists of 3 three-storey buildings (with the architectural charm of a dormitory), set around a large pool and
surrounded by nature. There are a total 97 Premium Deluxe Rooms (pictures above, 37.5 sq.m., 20 king/77 twin) belonging to |
