Chalong Bay Chalong is Phuket's principal boat anchorage and the island's largest bay. Ao Chalong has a flat, shallow and muddy bottom, and at low tide the waters recede as much as 1 km. The bay's restaurants are renowned for their seafood. Most visitors to the islands south of Phuket depart from Chalong pier. Charters to various places can be arranged from there, and it is the centre of the island's yachting activities. The pier and a number of restaurants are located on the short road leading to the beach from the circle. |

Ton Island This tiny island located off Phuket's southeast coast is highly prized for its pristine natural environment, including fine, white-sanded beaches and crystal-clear waters-ideal for swimming, diving and fishing. The only business of any kind on the island id the plush Maiton Island Resort. Those not wishing to stay overnight can take a daytime excursion from Ao Makam Deep Sea Port. |

Bang
Tao Beach Bang Tao is a large open bay with one of Phuket's longest beaches. It was once the site of a tin mine, but is now home to a luxury resort. Much of the bay is occupied by the Laguna Resort complex, a massive five-star development with its own golf course. There is, however, alternative accommodation available at the bay's southern end. At the bay's southern end is a smaller bay, almost completely enclosed, at the mouth of which lies some fine coral. Along the way there are numerous restaurants serving great food. |
