
A magnitude-8.7 earthquake struck off the northern shore of Sumatra Island in Indonesia on Wednesday 11 April 2012 at 3.38 PM (+7 GMT). A tsunami warning was issued for Ranong, Pang-nga, Krabi, Phuket, Trang, and Satul.
All of the beach areas in Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi have been ordered to be evacuated.
4.56 PM (+7 GMT) - Phuket Airport is temporary closed.
5:10 PM (+7 GMT) - Sea waters receeding clearly on beaches in Phuket, Krabi.
6.00 PM (+7 GMT) - No tsunami reported in Southern coastal provinces of Thailand so far.
8.00 PM (+7 GMT) - The Andaman provinces' tsunami warning was lifted.
