From 29 March 2009, Thai Airways International (THAI) operates all its Bangkok-based domestic flights from Suvarnabhumi International Airport, shifting from the current domestic airport, Don Muang.
Passengers will now be able to transit from international flights to domestic flights or vice versa with shorter time compared to the previous connecting time required for transiting through Don Muang.
According to THAI, twelve domestic check-in counters will be added at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in order to handle a larger volume of passengers. Thirteen self- service kiosks are already present at check-in areas. THAI is also working with the Airports Authority of Thailand (AOT) to introduce Common Use Self-Service [CUSS] kiosks accommodating passengers of many airlines.
THAI is planning to encourage passengers on domestic flights, particularly local Thai people, to use the kiosks and also to become familiar with a new online service, Internet Home Print Boarding pass, which was introduced by THAI in February this year for domestic e-ticket passengers only. It enables passengers to print out their own boarding passes from home. THAI also plans to introduce Internet Home Print Boarding Pass for international flights in May.
