Review of Two Hotels in Songkla

Review of Samila Beach Hotel

This recently renovated hotel has a very commanding position overlooking the Mermaid statue. The Coffee shop serves both Thai and western dishes. The lobby is lavishly finished in marble and Guest rooms are finished to an International standard. Guest can walk directly from the hotel onto the beach. For those seeking a little exercise there is the 9 hole golf course next door, again with direct access without have to cross a road.

Review of Haad Kaew Resort

A sort drive north of Songkla on Route 408 is the delightful 143 bedroom Haad Kaew Resort. Guest staying at the hotel without transport little choice other than to eat in Rim Haad Restaurant but this will cause no hardship the menu has a good selection of Thai and western dishes, the service is good and the staff has a working knowledge of English. The hotel is remote but the benefit is direct access to 10 kms of pristine white sandy beach and the hotel provides a wide variety of watersports. It affords privacy and is free from hawkers and masseurs; it's nice to be left alone.
