Who's The Best in Bed?

I wonder how many people have fond memories of the best night in Bangkok? Well having just spent US$ 30 million on 52,000 in North America Heavenly Bed Westin Hotels & Resorts are hoping that it will have been while you were sleeping with them. And gentle reader, please do get me wrong, I do mean sleep and nothing else. With the arrival of the Heavenly Bed at The Westin Banyan Tree, "Allows travellers to enjoy their own piece of heaven in each guest room." remarked Andrew Jeesop, General Manager.

If all Westin's new Heavenly Beds were lined up they would stretch 67 miles or stretch the length of 3,640 football fields. Stacked on top of each other, they would equal 238 Empire States Buildings.

In the book according to Westin it is written that there are 10 layers of Heaven, in divine white. The natural pillow, synthetic pillow, boudoir pillow, duvet cover, top sheet, down blanket, decorative sheet, base sheet, mattress pad and pillow top mattress. "Hotels are in the business of selling sleep but more than half our customers go home tired " says Barry Sternlicht, Chairman & CEO of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc (Westin's parent company), "not a good report card for the hotel industry." This led to the survey "Sleeping on the Road" A sleep study by Westin Hotels & Resorts. The results were interesting.

Sleep is so important that twice as many travellers said they'd take a great night' sleep over great sex. Travellers say they get less sleep on the road (49%); sleep fewer hours (51%) and; more likely to wake in the night (31%). On average it takes a traveller 24 minutes to fall asleep in a hotel, compared to 15 minutes at home. The survey revealed that what men miss most when sleeping away from is their spouse, while women reacted that they're more likely to miss their own bed than the man they've left behind. Interestingly 66% of men say that they'd like to bring their spouse on a business trip, only 52% of women said the same. But what was most significant to Westin and justified their investment was that 84% of travellers surveyed said that a luxurious bed would make a hotel room more attractive to them.

So what did the survey have to say about what people wear in bed. 11% of men said they sleep in the nude and 42% in their underwear, only 2% of women shed it all in bed and 3% just their underwear.

Do you count sheep before nodding off? The survey showed that 53% read, 47% call their family; 43% draw the curtains and; 42% leave the TV on.

Now assuming that your best night ever in Bangkok was at the Westin Banyan Tree it is possible to have the same bed delivered to your home by calling 1-800-WESTIN-1.

Sweet dreams-
