THAI's Celebrations for HM the King's 72nd
Birthday on 5th December 1999

Thai Airways International have created a special web page on their home page at www.thaiairways.co.th and www.thaiair.com to invite well-wishers to express their loyalty and gratitude to His Majesty on this auspicious occasion. There is a choice of nine greetings cards and a selection of message in Thai or English that can be posted to the King.

This projects was made possible with the cooperation with LOXINFO company with the objective to provide an opportunity for Thai citizens and friends residing in Thailand and overseas to express their loyalty to His Majesty the King via THAI's website. All the messages received will be compiled and sent to the Office of the Prime Minister before presenting to His Majesty the King.

In our first edition of Travel Thailand e-Zine we looked at how food grown at the Royal Projects were being used on THAI's flight departing Bangkok. All passengers on Thai Airways International's flights departing Bangkok 4-6th December 1999 will be invited to join the national celebrations with a specially prepared menu, with all fresh produce being purchased from the Royal Projects.

The menu includes a Crispy Green Salad served with a unique Ratanakosin Vinaigrette Dressing. The recommend main course is Tab Tim Fish Chu Chee, served with Royal Chitralada's Brown Rice. The Tab Tim fish is a cross-breed between Japanese carp and local Thai Fish. The original Japanese carp, were graciously presented to His Majesty the King by the Royal Crown Prince of Japan in 1966. The Tab Tim was developed in a highly successful cross-breeding programme under patronage of His Majesty the King. The name Tab Tim means ruby in Thai and was chosen because of the reddish colour of the fish's skin. The texture and taste is similar to those of Red Snapper. To complete the meal a Doi Kam Pudding has been created using dried Thai fruits from Doi Kam Royal Projects in Chiang Mai, served with vanilla sauce.
