A great disco, Concept CM2 has live bands (one night there was a jazzy bebop band--great if you can remember how to jitterbug) with DJ dance music in between--very popular place, Novotel Siam, Siam Square Soi 6 (tel. 2255-6888). Spasso, Grand Hyatt Erewan Hotel, 494 Ratchadamri Rd. (tel. 2254-1234), a fabulous Italian restaurant, turns into an equally fabulous, upscale club featuring live music--superb decor and atmosphere.

If you must find the best karaoke in Bangkok, try Sensations, Novotel Siam, Siam Square Soi 6 (tel. 2255-6888). It has a wide selection of themed Karaoke private rooms and some of the best sound equipment in town.

A little bit north of this area (a short cab ride away), near the Victory Monument, check out live "jazz" (more blues than jazz, but still good) at Saxophone Pub and Restaurant. They're at Phayathai Road just across from the traffic circle (tel. 2246-5472).
