Restaurant of the Month - Cucina

Walking into the restaurant the first thing to great the customer is a pasta station and brick pizza oven. The feel is of a family restaurant that one might find in the north of Italy with elements such as terracotta, stone, brick and rough hewn wood.

The menu focuses on northern Italian cuisine with bold, full flavours. Normally the flavour of the cuisine is heavy using warming ingredients such as cream, beans and stews. However to cope with the tropical climate of Phuket they have been modified to have a lighter flavour with the emphasis
on a wide variety of vegetables and seafood.

The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the chef is always on hand to help with the selection of antipasti, served on long narrow platters. Daily specials are hand written on the blackboard. Entertainment is as much a part of the restaurant as the food itself. A solo guitar player performs nightly and all of the waiting staff have learnt a repetoire of ten Italian songs and will join in when the mood and service demands permit.
