A lot of people are still not comfortable with the idea of an e-ticket, arriving at the airport without a ticket in your hand and expecting to be checked in for a flight. Recently I had to make a business trip to Mae Hong Son and the client was paying for it. I went to www.thaiair.com and became a registered user. Then I booked my flights Bangkok/Chiang Mai/Mae Hong Son/Chiang Mai/Bangkok on line. The steps are very simple and within minutes I had my booking code. I then e-mailed this code to my client who in turn called Thais reservation office to make payment for an e-ticket. It is a pity that payment for the e-ticket cant be made at the same time as the reservation, but that is the way it is. When I arrived at the check in desk I simply showed my passport as indentification and I was checked in for both my flights Bangkok to Chiang Mai and the onwards to Mae Hong Son. My baggage was also checked through to my final destination, so while I was transitting Chiang Mai I had nothing to do expect walk to the departure gate. The system was both efficient and user friendly. Below are the conditions applicable to using an electronic ticket when flying with Thai Airways. Electronic ticketing is serviceable after your booking is created but following rules are applied :
