The Royal Trophy - Golf Competition Thailand

The Royal Trophy - Europe versus Asia Golf Championship is a prestigious competition played between the teams of Europe and Asia. The competition is held annually in Thailand since 2006 and the 16-kilogram solid-silver Trophy from His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej is a principal award for this competition. In fact, the third edition of the Royal Trophy had previously been planned in January 2008 but was subsequently postponed because Thailand was in mourning due to the passing away of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana which brought about great sadness for all the Thais.

The next coming year, it is the time for the third edition of the Royal Trophy that will be scheduled on January 9-11, 2009 in Chonburi at Thailand's world-class Amata Spring Country Club with 7,300 yards course. The Royal Trophy organizer promises to bring to the fore some exciting new elements, presently under consideration, including leading golfers from Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Island to the Asian Team. The Spaniard Ballesteros and Japanese golfing great Joe Ozaki will be captain for the European and Asian Teams respectively.
