It is held on the full moon day of the eleventh lunar month which will fall on 5th October 2017, marking the end of rainy season and Buddhist lent - a 3 months retreat when monks need to stay in their own monastery.

This event will give you a close look into the belief of Thai People that closely bond with Buddhism. There are a number of celebrations in all part of the country. The best choice if you stay in Bangkok as this event is only some minutes away by taxi from BTS Samrong Station. During the day, people of Samut Prakan come to Bang Phli Yai Nai Temple to pay respect to the sacred Buddha image called "Luang Poh Toh". A replica of this sacred image is put on a boat and goes up and down Samrong Canal where people waiting on the embankment and throw lotus at the boat.

Extraordinary event by the River Mekong in North Eastern part of Thailand, which will give you a different atmosphere of the festival. In the evening, "fire boats" are set afloat on the river decorated into lavishly beautiful pattern with thousands lantern. These boats can be up to 50 meters long, and 20-metre high, a great eye feasting scene and best for photo lovers.

Uthai Thani celebrates Awk Phansa with biggest Tak Bat Devo Rohana (food offering to monk) in Thailand. Visit to Wat Sangkat Rattana Khiri, a mountain temple in the provincial capital of Uthai Thani and you can catch the scene when hundreds of monks walk down the long stair to the crowds below to receive the offering --- making it look like they just return from heaven.

Chong Para Festival is unique and vibrant celebration of Mae Hong Son province. The event is focus on "Chong" towers, which are lavishly decorated it with colorful paper and illuminate with lanterns. Villagers will carry their own towers and join in the procession that snakes through the town. This is also a great chance to see extraordinary cultural performances including the Shan Peacock Dance, the Nok Gingkala Mythical Bird Dance and the Shan Kinnara Dance.
Chak Phra Festival and Suratthani Boat Races - Surat Thani Chak Phra Festival and Suratthani Boat Races

Venue: Surat Thani

The grand celebration will take place with a boat hauling of Surat Thani's principal Buddha image on a raft adorned with huge nagas and a parade of sleigh-like floats bearing Buddha images routings round the town. There is also a decorated floats contest, light and sound presentation on the Tapi River, cultural performances, and local products sales.
