Aka Hill Tribes Mini Light and Sound Presentation

First introduced in 1999, Chiang Rai province hosts its annual light and sound show that presents insights into the culture and lifestyle of the Aka hill tribes, residing at the hilltop villages in Mae Chan District. This year, the show is available once a month during the High Season from January to April 2009.

The first show of the year will start on Saturday 10 January at the Chiang Rai Social Development Centre 12. There, visitors will be able to enjoy the authentic Aka hill tribe performance by the villagers as well as to purchase some handicrafts on display. The show is presented in both Thai and English languages.

The centre is also encouraging oversea tourists to experience a community-based tourism by introducing the unique home-stay accommodation. This will allow visitors to study Aka hilltribe traditions up close with village elders who will provide instruction and insights into cottage industry and various cultural activities.
